Aging is referred to as Jara or Vardhakya in Ayurveda. It is one of the Swabhavaja Vyadhi – a natural condition inevitable in all living beings.

Meaning: Jara (aging) is the manifestation of discoloration, dryness, and looseness of the body tissues.
