HERBAL REMEDIES PREPARED FROM KRISHNA BEEJAM (Ipomoea hederacea)



External uses:

It is acts as a scraping agent by external application. Its external application is done in kaphaj skin disorders for lekhan. By its tikshna property, it acts as lekhan.

Internal uses:

Since it removes the doshas from the body, it is used in diseases like ascites and oedema which require continuous removal of doshas. For the same reasons it is also used in fever, constipation, headache, flatulence and helminthiasis.

Worms are killed and expelled out by krishnabeeja. It is used in a dose of 1 to 3 gms. in gout, rheumatoid arthritis, oedema, dysuria, amenorrhoea and - dysmenorrhoea.

The seeds are dried, roasted, powdered and then used for medicinal purposes. To avoid abdominal spasm, it is given along with gulkanda, haritaki, fennel etc.
