Uses External application has analgesic and wound healing property. Seed pulp is beneficial to nervous system . Flowers are stimulant and pleasant to mind. Seed pulp is a good laxative. Leaf juice is viscous and flowers, being liver stimulant are used in jaundice. They are also used in psychosomatic disorders Decoction or powder of roots is given in amenorrhoea and dysmenorrhoea. It is used in postpartum period to contract uterus, to avoid puerperal disorders and as a haemostatic Excess dose may cause  abortion. Cotton is used as a galactogogue and aphrodisiac.
