In Ayurveda, Nasya Karma (nasal administration of medicine) is an essential therapy in Panchakarma, particularly for treating Urdhva Jatrugata Roga (diseases above the clavicle).

For Swarasa Nasya (fresh juice used in Nasya), the dose varies based on the type of Nasya.

Matra (Dosage) According to Classical Texts:

  1. Marsha Nasya (Therapeutic Nasya)4 to 6 Bindu (drops) per nostril
    • Used for chronic diseases, deep tissue penetration.
  2. Pratimarsha Nasya (Daily Use Nasya)1 to 2 Bindu per nostril
    • Can be used regularly for wellness.
  3. Brimhana Nasya (Nourishing Nasya)6 to 10 Bindu per nostril
    • Used for nourishment and rejuvenation.
  4. Shamana Nasya (Palliative Nasya)As per disease condition
    • To balance specific doshas.
  5. Shodhana Nasya (Purification Nasya)8 to 10 Bindu per nostril
    • Used for strong cleansing, especially in Kapha disorders.
