Vasti

In Ayurveda, Vasti (also known as Basti) is a therapeutic procedure that involves the administration of medicated enemas. This procedure is one of the five primary therapies in Ayurveda known as Panchakarma.

Vasti therapy involves the introduction of herbal oils, decoctions, or other medicated liquids into the rectum using a special instrument called a Vasti Yantra. The procedure is believed to help in the elimination of toxins from the body and to balance the Vata dosha (one of the three fundamental energies or doshas in the body according to Ayurveda).

There are different types of Vasti therapy in Ayurveda, each with its own specific indications and benefits. For example, Anuvasana Vasti involves the use of medicated oils, while Niruha Vasti involves the use of herbal decoctions.

Vasti therapy is considered beneficial for various conditions such as digestive disorders, arthritis, sciatica, gynecological disorders, and neurological conditions. However, it should only be performed by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner after a proper diagnosis of the individual's condition and constitution.
